The most common causes of cracked heels are:

  • Dry skin
  • Thick or callus skin
  • Lack of feet care
  • Extra pressure on the soles of your feet.
  • Prolonged standing at work or home

Cracked heels or heel fissures are the linear cut that affects the epidermis. Once the cut th (2)deepens, it may be very painful. Cracked heels indicate deficiencies in zinc and omega-3 and lead to some infection but most of the time it is curable.

Some of the symptoms that can lead to cracked heels are:

  • Red or Flaky Patches - Often to be the first symptoms of cracked heels.
  • Peeling Skin -  Next to red patches, you will notice skin peeling and because it may sometime be irritable, you will try to pull it off and this is not good because you might damage or cause pain to you skin. Always use scissors or nail clippers to cut the dry skin.
  • Itchiness

Preventing and curing dry cracked heels is simple and can be your daily hygiene routine.

  • Soaking your feet in warm water twice a week.
  • Exfoliate your heal
  • Use skin moisturizer once or twice a day
  • Exercise to improve circulation throughout the body
  • Avoid wearing too tight shoes
  • Avoid bare walking
  • Keep your feet clean at all times

Use of herbs, fruits and natural oils can be use while soaking your feet in preventing cracked heels.
