Thrombosis: Effects and traditional herb medication

thrombosis 1Thrombosis is the blood clotting that develops in your body that blocks the blood flow in the affected are.  If complication due to clotting occurs, it will affect your body’s circulatory system and blood will not flow to your brain and lungs.

Thrombosis can be classified as venous thrombosis or arterial thrombosis.

Venous thrombosis is the clotting of blood that forms in the vein.  The most common of thrombosis 2venous thrombosis is the deep vein thrombosis (DVT) which commonly occurs in the deep veins of the leg. If clotting occurs in this area, it will break off the flow of blood to your lungs that may cause pulmonary embolism or blood clotting in the lungs.

Other forms of venous thrombosis are; portal vein thrombosis (blockage of blood flow in the spleen tot he liver), jugular vein thrombosis (a condition usually due to drug use), renal vein thrombosis (blood clotting that drains the blood flow to your kidney), cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (blood clotting that drains the blood flow to your brain).

thrombosis 3Arterial thrombosis is the blood clotting in your arteries.  This kind of thrombosis is the major cause of arterial embolism that will cause clogging of blood flow in almost all organ of your body.

Thrombosis is not a disease. Some of the factors that causes thrombosis is mainly in persons lifestyle.

Thrombosis may occur if you are:

  • Overweight
  • An elderly
  • Sitting longer than the usual
  • Smoking
  • Traveling too much (specially with long in-flight travel that will make you sit a little longer).
  • Recuperating from a surgery that needs total bed rest.
  • Just gave birth.
  • Take oral contraceptives.

There are herbal medicine for treatment of thrombosis.  Most of this herbs are powerful antioxidant.

Herbs and spices that can be useful in preventing thrombosis are:

  • Cayenne – is very rich in Vitamins A, B6, C. It is also rich in potassium and manganese. Cayenne increases the circulation the flow of blood vessels and speeds the metabolism of your body. It also regulates high blood pressure and with the right intake, can promote a healthy liver. Cayenne also helps to thin your blood.

  • Rosemary – has an ingredient rosmarinic acid that is antioxidant, anti-fungal, anti-septic and anti-inflammatory. Rosemary is also rich in iron that is good for the hemoglobin inside the red blood cells.

  • Alfalfa – reduces cholesterol in your body. Alfalfa is also high in potassium and calciumalfalfa
  • Ginger – is not only good to soothe your throat but, ginger is an antioxidant. It inhibits the formation of inflammatory composition in the bodyGinger Root
