Natural relief for rhinitis

Rhinitis is a very common allergy that happens at any age. Once you contracted this kind of allergy, majority of it, will be carried over as you age.

Rhinitis is the inflammation of the mucous membrane that is generally caused by bacteria, viruses and airborne allergens like pollen and dander.

Some of the symptoms of rhinitis are:

  • Itchy nose, mouth, throat
  • Hard to smell
  • Sneezing
  • Coughing
  • Runny nose
  • Watery eyes
  • Fatigue
  • Nasal cognitive impairment

There are three types of rhinitis allergy

  • Infectious rhinitis – caused by acute and chronic viral bacterial infections. Symptoms include sneezing, sore throat, coughing, headache and rhinorrhea, odors, fumes, change of weather
  • Non-allergic rhinitis – this may cause by smoking, medication-induced
  • Allergic rhinitis – caused by mold, dust, animal dander

Once rhinitis becomes worse, you need to consult your doctor for the proper medications you need to take.  But, you can try this home and natural relief that may prevent attack of your rhinitis.

  • GINGER – has antibacterial, anti oxidant, anti-inflammatory properties. And because it also has an immune-boosting properties, it helps prevent congestion, runny nose and coughing. Add grated ginger in a cup of water and boil it for about 3-5 minutes. You may or may not strain the boiled mixture and add lemon or honey to taste.  You can also chew fresh ginger if you want to.

  • TURMERIC – has the same antibacterial, anti oxidant, anti-inflammatory properties, anti viral, immune-boosting properties like ginger. Add 4-6 tablespoons of turmeric powder with warm water and add honey to taste.  You can also try to mix the turmeric powder and honey with warm milk.

  • GARLIC – is a natural antihistamine vegetable and is an effective natural relief for rhinitis. Because of its antibiotic, antibacterial, antiviral properties, the allergy can be treated quickly. Chew 2-3 garlic in a day.  You need to have an hour or more gap of chewing garlic because it has a burning sensation and you might just add to the allergy or pain that you feel.

  • APPLE CIDER VINEGAR – has as many healing properties as any other vegetables combined. It has antibiotic, antihistamine, immune-boosting properties that will help reduce the symptoms of rhinitis like sneezing, nasal congestion and other symptoms.  Add 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar to a glass of warm water, add honey or lemon and try to drink it 3 times a day until your feel better from your allergy.

  • NETTLE TEA – is a natural antihistamine and anti-inflammatory herb. It provides quick relief for your nasal congestion, sneezing, coughing and itchiness. Drink this tea 3 times a day.  You can add honey or lemon to taste.
